James Juke

James Juke is a student of house music and culture, informed and inspired by the rhythms, rawness, and radiant community of The Loft, Paradise Garage, and Warehouse. Although much of the music he samples were classics at these venues, his unique sound finds the common ground between the deep, soulful sounds of New York and the more funky Jackin’ sounds of Chicago. His music aims to strip away the excess to make room for the groove and is often composed of clever sample-chopping in tandem with raw drum patterns and distinctive vocals. His debut 4-track EP, Where the Party Starts, out on Late Night Jackin’, offers a glimpse into his timeless style and approach.
