Born and raised in Denver, CO, Joshua Thompson, better known as Laika Beats, grew up immersed in the growing electronic music scene. Laika Beats is inspired by Three Six Mafia, Metro Boomin, Clams Casino, Pretty Lights, Bonobo, A$AP Rocky, RL Grime, TNGHT, Mr Carmack, and other influences such as skateboarding culture and graffiti. Thompson’s sound can best be described as a melodic blend of hip-hop and electronic music, although it is difficult to put his music in one simple category. Thompson is a true artist and spends hours in the studio fusing elements of Hip-Hop/Trap and Electronica through the use of custom synth design, mesmerizing melodies, rare rap vocal hooks, and hybrid bass riffs.
